NRS pricing, published in full except the part that matters most.

Hardware from $499 to $1,799, software from $19.95 to $79.95 a month with NRS Pay, all published. No processing rate published, a contract required, and a $10 to $30 monthly discount for taking their processing that works as a switching cost.

What this page settles.

Three questions, in the order most people ask them.

01PublishedHardware and software, in full.
02Not publishedThe processing rate.
03The lockSoftware is cheaper with their processing.

What it actually is

NRS is a point-of-sale system built for convenience stores, bodegas, smoke shops and petrol forecourts. High-SKU scanning, age verification, lottery, vendor management, inventory for thousands of low-margin lines, and a customer-facing advertising screen that some operators earn from.

It sells direct rather than through a reseller channel, and it publishes its hardware and software prices in full — which in point-of-sale is genuinely unusual and worth crediting. Toast, Lightspeed and most of the category publish neither.

What it does not publish is the NRS Pay processing rate. Its pricing page also states that a contract is required without naming a term.

Where we stand. PosNexus is an ISO, and NRS is one of the platforms we board merchants on. We are paid on the accounts we place, so treat our view of it accordingly. Everything on this page is quoted from NRS’s own published pricing page, read on 2026-10-08, so you can check it yourself.

The blanks are the part most people came for, and they are blanks rather than omissions: where that table says a figure is not published, NRS does not publish it. We read NRS’s own pages rather than taking a number from a review site, and a number we cannot source we do not print.

Published prices change. These are list prices for a business buying direct, read on the date above, and a quote you are given may differ.

Where we stand. PosNexus is an ISO, and NRS is one of the platforms we board merchants on. We are paid on the accounts we place, so treat our view of it as coming from an interested party. Every figure in the table above is quoted from NRS’s own published page, with the date we read it and a link, so you can check the facts without taking our word for anything.

What it costs in practice

The published half adds up cleanly.

Software, per month, with NRS Pay: Basic $19.95, Pro $34.95, Advanced $49.95, Elite $79.95. Without NRS Pay each is $10 to $30 higher: $29.95, $54.95, $74.95, $109.95. Additional terminals are $19.95 a month each, or $29.95 without NRS Pay. One month free on annual payment.

Hardware, outright: Panther tablet bundle $499, Panther workstation $1,199, PUMA $1,299, self-ordering kiosk $1,595 (floor stand $200 extra), CHEETAH $1,799. Bring your own Android tablet and the Panther app is $0 in hardware, with NRS Pay required.

Other published figures: terminal assurance $6.95 a month, optional. $350 per device if equipment is not returned in working condition at termination. A Cash Discount program fee of $49.95 a month, waived above $18,000 a month of processing. An additional $30 a month on Panther stores using flat-rate NRS Pay or processing under $10,000 on Cash Discount.

Add it up for a real store. A bodega on Pro with NRS Pay and a Cash Discount program under $18,000 a month: $34.95 + $49.95 = $84.90 a month before processing, plus $1,299 of hardware. The processing rate is the number that is missing, and for a store doing $40,000 a month it will be several times the software cost.

What it is good at

It publishes hardware and software prices. In a category where Toast and Lightspeed publish neither, that is a real difference and makes most of the decision checkable.

It is built for the trade. Scanning thousands of SKUs, age verification prompts, lottery, vendor ordering and reconciliation. A general-purpose system approximates these; NRS is designed around them.

The bring-your-own-tablet option is genuinely cheap. $0 hardware on the Panther app, with NRS Pay required, removes the capital barrier for a small store.

The entry software price is low. $19.95 a month with NRS Pay is a quarter of what Clover’s retail plans cost and a fraction of Lightspeed’s.

It sells direct, so there is no reseller lottery and the published price is the price.

Where it costs you

The unpublished processing rate. Everything else here is the smaller half. Get the percentage, the per-item and the pricing model in writing before signing anything.

The discount that is a switching cost. $10 to $30 a month off every tier for taking NRS Pay. At the Pro tier that is $240 a year and $960 over four years, and it is what you forfeit if you ever move the processing. Price it into the comparison on day one rather than discovering it later.

“Contract required.” The pricing page says so and does not publish the term. Ask for the length, the notice window and the exit cost, in writing. Auto-renewal clauses.

The exit clauses. $350 per device if equipment is not returned in working condition, and a cancelling NRS Pay customer is charged standard POS prices and must repay any equipment discount. Both published, both worth reading before taking a discounted device.

The cash discount program. Marketed heavily, and these programs carry real network rules about disclosure, caps and which cards. The version that goes wrong is the one where the customer was not told at the door. Cash discount programs and what gets sold as zero-fee.

Funding timing, monthly minimums and chargeback fees are not published.

Who it suits, and who it does not

NRS suits a convenience store, bodega, smoke shop or forecourt that needs the trade-specific tooling, wants a low monthly software cost, and will get the processing rate in writing before signing.

It does not suit general retail, where Clover or Square is a better fit and the trade tooling is wasted, nor a business that expects to shop its processing later, because the software discount and the contract both work against that.

Before you sign: the rate, the per-item, the pricing model, every monthly fee, the term, the notice window, the exit cost and the hardware return terms. All in writing. The hardware and software are already published, so those eight answers complete the picture.

What we charge

Interchange + 0.50% + 10¢ in person, interchange + 0.75% + 25¢ keyed, with no contract, no monthly fee and no monthly minimum.

We board merchants on NRS, so we are not a neutral party about it and have said so above. What is neutral is the arithmetic: send us one page of a statement and we will work out what you actually pay today, which is a number you can then take to anybody.

While we are on the subject

What does NRS Pay charge for processing?

NRS publishes no processing rate. You have to ask, and you should get the percentage, the per-item and the pricing model in writing.

Does NRS require a contract?

Its pricing page says a contract is required and does not publish the term. Ask for the length, the notice window and the exit terms.

Why is the software cheaper with NRS Pay?

Because the processing carries the margin. The $10 to $30 monthly discount is a standing incentive to keep the processing with them, and a real cost if you ever move.

Can I use my own Android tablet?

Yes. NRS publishes a bring-your-own-tablet option at $0 hardware on the Panther app, with NRS Pay required and an additional $30 a month on some processing arrangements.
