SpotOn pricing, and the trade it prints on the page.
A $0-per-station plan with hardware included, a 2.79% + 20¢ rate and a two-year minimum term; or $55 a station at 2.45% + 15¢, month-to-month, with hardware bought. Both published, which almost nobody in restaurant POS does.
What this page settles.
Three questions, in the order most people ask them.
What it actually is
SpotOn is a restaurant point-of-sale and payments company. It sells direct, publishes its rates, and — unusually for this category — publishes the contract term attached to each plan.
Two restaurant plans. All-In is $0 per station per month with POS hardware and software included, at 2.79% + $0.20 card present and 3.79% + $0.20 keyed, with processing minimums and a two-year minimum term stated on the page. POS Essentials is $55 per station per month at 2.45% + $0.15 card present (Amex 3.19% + $0.15) and 3.45% + $0.15 keyed, month-to-month, with a Station 15 at $750 and handhelds at $297, plus implementation.
There is also a Build Your Own tier for multi-unit and high-volume operations at custom rates, and a Core Bundle add-on at $50 a month plus 20 basis points of gross processing volume.
Processing is tied to the platform, as it is with every restaurant point-of-sale system in this market.

What it costs in practice
Take a one-station restaurant with a $35 average ticket.
At $30,000 a month (857 transactions). Essentials: $735 + $128.55 + $55 = $918.55, an effective rate of 3.06%. All-In: $837 + $171.40 = $1,008.40, or 3.36%. Essentials is $90 a month cheaper, and pays back the $750 station in eight months.
At $60,000 a month (1,714 transactions). Essentials: $1,470 + $257.10 + $55 = $1,782.10, or 2.97%. All-In: $1,674 + $342.80 = $2,016.80, or 3.36%. Essentials is $235 a month cheaper and pays back the hardware in just over three months.
That is the whole shape of it. All-In is a financing arrangement: no upfront cost, paid for through a 0.34% higher rate and a two-year commitment. For a restaurant that can fund $750 of hardware, Essentials is cheaper from about month four and stays cheaper. For one that genuinely cannot, All-In is an honest version of the deal — which is more than can be said for most free-equipment offers. Buy or lease.
The Core Bundle is worth pricing separately. $50 a month plus 20 basis points of gross volume is $170 a month at $60,000, not $50.
What it is good at
It publishes the term. SpotOn prints “2yr minimum term” next to its $0 plan. Almost nobody in restaurant point-of-sale does this, and it turns an opaque free-hardware offer into a comparable financing decision.
It publishes rates at all, unlike Toast and Lightspeed. Who publishes and who does not.
The Essentials rate is good. 2.45% + $0.15 card present is competitive with anything else bundled into a restaurant system.
Month-to-month is available on the paid plan, which in this category is rare and genuinely valuable.
Hardware prices are published and modest — $750 for a station and $297 for a handheld against Clover’s $1,799 to $4,447 and Toast’s unpublished figures.
It sells direct, so there is no reseller lottery.
Where it costs you
The All-In plan’s two-year term, and the processing minimums that come with it. The minimum amount is not published, which is the one disclosure gap on an otherwise clear page. Get the figure before signing.
The Amex carve-out on Essentials. 3.19% + $0.15 against 2.45% + $0.15 is a 0.74% gap. For a restaurant where Amex is a real share of covers, that materially changes the comparison.
The Core Bundle’s basis points. 20bps of gross processing volume scales with you, which makes the headline $50 misleading at any real volume.
Processing is locked to the platform, so the rate is a decision you make once, before the menu is built. Choosing a restaurant POS.
Implementation is not published as a number, and it is a real cost.
Funding timing and chargeback fees are not published.
Who it suits, and who it does not
SpotOn suits a restaurant that wants a published price it can check and a month-to-month arrangement, and that can fund its own hardware — Essentials is the plan, and it is a good one.
All-In suits an operator who genuinely cannot fund hardware and would otherwise not open, provided they understand they are financing it through the rate for two years.
SpotOn does not suit a restaurant with complex kitchen workflow that needs Toast’s depth, nor one whose main concern is processing cost — a restaurant at $80,000 a month would save meaningfully on interchange-plus, and the platform lock is what prevents it.
If you are comparing: against Toast, and against Clover.
What we charge
Interchange + 0.50% + 10¢ in person, interchange + 0.75% + 25¢ keyed, with no contract, no monthly fee and no monthly minimum.
SpotOn publishes its rate, which makes this easy to settle: work out your effective rate from a statement and compare it to interchange plus our published margin at your own card mix. Below roughly $12,000 a month in card volume we will usually tell you to stay where you are.
While we are on the subject
Is SpotOn's free hardware really free?
There is no upfront or monthly cost on the All-In plan. You pay for it through a 0.34% higher card-present rate, processing minimums, and a two-year minimum term — all stated on their page.
Which SpotOn plan is cheaper?
Essentials, for any restaurant that can fund $750 of hardware. At $60,000 a month it is about $235 a month cheaper and pays back the hardware in just over three months.
What are SpotOn's processing minimums?
Not published. The All-In page states that they apply without naming the figure, so ask for it in writing.
Does SpotOn charge more for Amex?
On POS Essentials, yes — 3.19% + $0.15 against 2.45% + $0.15 for everything else.
